Lots of bad short stories, saved from being a pure one by some good ones. Guess he's just not my author because I know he's generally well loved.

Some interesting stuff in here, but the author's self importance is either the deepest I've ever seen anyone commit to a bit or they are simply insufferable. Decent amount of the errors mentioned are not math errors at all but human error on a non-math problem to bloat the book's concept. Several interesting stories and it seems to do a good job at explaining basic concepts like stats and CS so the reader can understand what it happening, but really not something I would recommend anyone read.

I have such mixed feeling about this book! The start is really slow, even for a brando sando book. A bit before the midpoint, though, all the pieces have been set and it spirals into this beautiful and compelling blend of intrigue/mystery/adventure which is only a stage for a really, really sweet pairing of dual character growth and romance. Docking a star for its rough start, but giving a little extra oomph because I love it.

I rank it similar to golden son; a step down from red rising but a good book in it's own right. Setting up for the big climax took a decent amount of work, leading to a slower-paced feel. Overall, I still enjoyed it and how the author worked to show the pains of war as well as the worth of fighting for a cause.

A slightly weaker showing than the first one; it did not feel like the author was as used to writing grandiose space opera type stuff. Still, I read it in just a few days the pace is breakneck and the new characters introduced are great.

GAS GAS GAS LETS GOOOO YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW FUCK YEAH.

Enjoyed it. Hunger games type feel but with a bit more depth in the world than your standard knock off. Character is somewhat a Gary Stu but written in a way that I do not want anything else for him :')
