Devastating. Beautiful. The portrayal of the way we experience love in our youth and the quickness with which that love is gone is told with intimate accuracy. The way shame can hold a person in isolation and the way life plays out with such cruelty at times is written with pure honesty.

Such a sweet book about family dynamics and growing up.

André Aciman has a way of understanding the difference between first love and THE love. And he writes it so stunningly.
