THIS. BOOOOOOOOK. This might be the best book I’ve ever read. An ode to the liminal. An ode to stories. An ode to words and tattoos and love and family. A condemnation of powerful men and racism. The spirit of Doc Five lives in these pages. The subtle references to Terry Pratchett and NK Jemisin!

What an incredible conclusion to the series. I adore Ross’s storytelling and the way she writes characters and their relationships. So much love and community shines through in these pages.
DNF @ 67%. Hard to believe the same author wrote Gods of Jade and Shadow. This is by far the most boring book I have attempted to read this year. I tried switching to audiobook like others had suggested and it was still a massive slog. I don’t care about any of the characters, the “twist” was painfully predictable from the start, and I don’t care even a little bit what happens in the end.

Incredible story of grief, trauma, and ancestry wrapped up in a kickass YA fantasy.
This book is well-written, well-plotted, and overall well-done. Best book I've ever read.
This book is so good I read it once a year. Horses, history, romance, et more!
