I'm in deep sh*t with this book.
Because I fell instantly in love when I read The Host for the first time - which means I re-read the book several times. And when the movie finally came out, I rushed to the cinema to watch it, and re-watched it about a hundred times since then. So I know the story pretty damn well. And that is bad, considering the reading experience of The Chemist.
Because it is exactly the same as The Host - only we have a bunch of hitmen and secret agent instead of aliens. There are a bunch of running, hiding, shooting and fighting, there are some funny moments as the brothers (and Juliana) verbally abuse each other, with and an incredibly cheesy romantic part of the plot as an addition. The Daniel-Kevin-"Alex" trio is basically the exact copy of the Ian-Kyle-Melanie team. And while I loved the dynamics between the characters in The Host, I can't say the same about The Chemist. And I'm sure the reason is the repetition, the feeling that it's just a bad copy, nothing more.
Seems like Stephenie just isn't able to came up with an original story anymore. She wrote Twilight, and then three (and a half) sequels to it, which is fine. And then she releases the first book again with minor changes (Life and Death), and then she goes and releases the first book YET AGAIN with slight changes (Midnight Sun). Isn't she bored already, writing the same stuff over and over again?
And then what? She changes some elements of The Host, and bammm, you have a new book, called The Chemist!
Ridiculous.

Összességében a hibái ellenére is tetszett a 13 perc, lekötött, hamar kiolvastam.
