The Lamb by Lucy Rose

4.5

Lyrical, folky, and pitch-black dark. I came for the cannibalism, but the real meat of this book--pun intended--is found in its exploration of motherhood, love, and attempts to possess and control others. Huge content warnings for child abuse--this one will make you sad

Blob: A Love Story by Maggie Su

Darkly funny, spec fic-adjacent sadgirl lit about a directionless twentysomething who finds a sentient blob and molds him into the perfect specimen of manhood with some help from reality TV. Along the way, we get many looks at her academic crashout, breakup, and complicated family relationships.

I had fun reading this, but to be honest, it could have used more blob.
