loved this on my first read through!! i didn’t grow up in the church, so i really only know the prominent stories they taught us in ap lit in high school lol. i definitely want to go back through this and cross-read with the relevant bible verses and will give it a star rating whenever i have the chance to do so :)

emily austin means everything to me and the quote “every fruit is a blessing” is absolutely a new favorite and one i’m going to be thinking about a lot.

sobbing as i type this. i love tegan & sara sm and reading about their coming out as well as their rise to becoming the musicians we all know and love :) reading along with the audiobook was fantastic, and i love that there’s an author interview at the end of the audio version!! i can’t wait to rewatch the show now that i have read this

some interesting (& frankly relevant) musings about the people’s behavior in a state of crisis, but otherwise it fell pretty flat for me. i think this has the potential to be an interesting movie but i  didn’t really care about the characters or plot when reading and it was SO repetitive with its groundhog day-esque plot

let it be known that i HATED chloe & shara and frankly didn’t care for the mystery or their romance plot at all, but i absolutely adored all the side characters and really loved the message of the book. this felt like a love letter to all the queer kids in small towns and parts of it made me sob!!!

dare i say this was a waste of my time. i was bored of the plot and found the main character insufferable
and the only reason i kept reading was because i was a *little* curious about how simon, dom, and alex’s paths would all collide at the end so the ambiguity just pissed me off!!!!!
