The future of Sappho shall be us.
i had a really hard time with wanting to pick up this book. the prose was beautiful and the message was strong but was personally not engaging until i got to historical events and figures i already had some background on — wwi and virginia woolf. i think i would take a lot more away from this book had i more context, and maybe i’ll reread it one day for that reason.

beautiful writing as always but i didn’t really connect with this one in the same way i have with patti smith’s other works. my favorite story was “nineteen fifty-seven”

Beauty isn’t fleeting. Beauty is eternal. But… I’m not. I’m fleeting. That’s more the point
even though the main character was insufferable i’m obsessed w this book !!!

main character is a FREAK

all that buildup for the whole 8 hour book just for it to be dropkicked into the toilet for the last 50 minutes (WHY were there like 20 plot twists) i hated this as a book but also couldn’t put it down so what does that say about me

also must add that the main character gives MAJOR joe from you vibes i can’t stop thinking about it
