It was pretty good! My only complaint is that the ending wasn’t as fleshed out as I would like it to be, but overall it was a good read. Just not one of my favourites, hence the 3 stars. Fair warning that this story is pretty brutal and sad, although hopeful and thoughtful.
I read this book a long time ago but I really enjoyed it :) an interesting plot with well-written scary scenes that kept me hooked. Not exceptionally amazing, but good anyway.

Awesome book! I saw a girl on tiktok silently review Iron Flame like this: " 😱😱😴😱😴😱😴😱😱😱" and she's exactly right lol. In my opinion, the pacing was not the best, as there were parts during the middle of the book that felt boring. Rebecca is very good at writing action-packed or tense scenes, but the parts in between were somewhat lacking IMO. So when it got good, it was GOOD. I loved the characters, the world-building, the plot, the ending, everything. This is why I give it the rating I did. I think Fourth Wing was a slightly stronger book overall, but IF follows closely behind. Looking forward to the next book. 💗

I absolutely adored this book and the whole series as a teen. I read this one probably 3 times. :) 5 stars if you're a teen who wants a simple read, loves dragons and doesn't mind some violence; 4 stars for me now as a young adult comparing it to other books I have read recently. I don't think this is meant for very young children because of the violence in it, especially in the later books.
