Because this story is third person but follows many different characters within a chapter it took me a while to get into the story. Every time we switched the character we were following it would take me a while to recall who the character was, how they were related, and what storyline they had. And quite often tge characters name wouldn't be mentioned until the next page or so.

I think this would of read better for me if it was first person and each chapter focused on each pov. I enjoyed the story but didn't feel that invested in what was happening. For me, the story felt clunky.

This was really good but very similar to The Hunger Games and Harry Potter with the last trial. I really enjoyed the trials aspect. I feel like the king is a bit meh. I don't know how Kitt, Kai, and Pay are going to be able to resolve what happened so I definitely want to read the next one to find out.

I loved this book. Towards the end I didn't want to have to leave this story and these characters so I definitely read slower. I really liked the messages in this story and the biggest one for me: even the smallest changes in someones life can be significant and celebrated. I emphasized with the Aleishas  difficult relationship with her home and mum. I cheered on Mukesh's journey after losing his wife and the growth that they both had because of the list. I loved everything about this book and all the characters. It was such a special reading experience and a true testament to the impact that books can have in our lives and the decisions and attitude we have throughout it. I felt like like I was right beside these characters as they went about their life in this story and THATS what reading a book should feel like.
