I picked this book up with the pretext that this had something to do with the Bible's version of heaven and hell but that is not what this book is. This book is mainly about the purgatory and Lewis' personal philosophy. If you pick this book as a new christian do not expect to find an accurate description of heaven and hell. Although I heavily disagree with this book's ideas I do believe that a philosopher will find great value in this books opinions on good and evil.

Honestly this is one of the darkest books I’ve read but that’s part of its charm. It’s the darkness of this book that really helps you to reflect on yourself and how to become closer to God instead of giving yourself over to the influence of the demonic. This book almost reads like a handbook on resisting the devil. Read this if you want to grow closer to God and reveal things about yourself that you didn’t even know we’re problems.

I have mixed feeling about this book. The characters at first are all dry and the kind of seems too normal to be a dystopian. A boring start does not mean a dull ending. By the end of the book I was hooked on the main character(Jonas) and his plan to save his community. This book was an overall interesting read, with some thought provoking ideas.

This book defines what a good adventure is supposed to be. Throughout the story you follow Bilbo Baggins, a small hobbit, which seems like an ill choice to adventure with. Throughout the story he proves his worth again and again, saving his friends many times over. If you are looking for a book to get yourself in the fantasy genre or you just want a good adventure then you’ll love this book.
