The official blurbs for the RCN series are always about Swashbuckling Adventure and Politics, and the books certainly do contain these things, but what keeps me coming back and makes these some of my favorite books is the found. family. tropes. This book manages to be extremely gay without actually being explicitly gay at all. If you like unrequited pining,  plausibly deniable jealousy of your friend's girlfriends, and the overall emotional dynamic of a soldier following their beloved commanding officer on a desperate mission that's doomed to fail, Raffles and Bunny are for you.
