I finished it so that’s a good sign. Smut was good I really good. The reason it’s a 3 stars is because I really didn’t care about the police storyline, other than the twist at the end I skipped most of it. Unnecessary poor communication m, and I generally don’t like the “I’m gay for you” trope. I honestly don’t even like people finding out they’re queer during the story unless done extremely carefully.

Love is this book. Took two days to finish because I had some stuff to do, but when I actually sat down to read it was a breeze. Technically I DNF’d it at 95% but it’s just because I hate endings. I rarely finish a book 100%.

Good quick read. I LOVE second chance romances and this delivered on most of my favorite tropes with SC. The smut was amazing, I WAS expecting the spice to be one sided but surprisingly both parties participated… if you know what I mean. The reason for the 3.75 stars is because of the miscommunication and jumping to conclusions way too quick. This book was a prime example for why I hate miscommunication and assumptions. This issues could’ve been solved way earlier if everyone just stopped lying and stopped assuming things. To me that is worth minus 2 points. If you can get over that then this is a solid read.

This is my 10th reread ever and my first reread of 2024. I don’t know what to say at this point. It’s a masterpiece. If you haven’t read this book I HIGHLY recommend you give it a chance.

A Whisper of Solace is a beautifully written story. I mean with an abundance of sensual spicy scenes that will have you blushing, heartbreaking angst, and an amazing character arc there isn’t much that you can do wrong. I was expecting things to take some time to pick up, but the story plops you right in the middle of the action. I don’t think anyone is a big fan of the “poor communication” trope, but I will say it didn’t bother me that much with this. I don’t know if it was because my brain was able to justify Neve’s reasoning thanks to the juxtaposition of the therapy scenes or if the story is just THAT good. I can’t think of anything that would justify me giving this any less than 5 stars. This was an amazing book to start 2024!
