Ruge is a great writer but this book really starts to drag around the halfway mark and also the story feels like at least three extended metaphors at the same time, to the detriment to all of them imo

Audiobook was not very well read, and I’m not finding anything in this that the movie didn’t do as good or better.
Somewhat preachy and EXTREMELY repetitive.

So schöne Prosa findet man selten in Sachbüchern. Schade nur, dass der Autor so selten auf seinen doch sehr privilegierten Sonderstatus als Kind adliger Grundbesitzer zu sprechen kommt.

Gorgeously written, but the plot was convoluted and not very engaging. At no point did I feel like I was given a real reason why I should want to read about any of these characters (the men - the women barely deserve to be called characters tbh) and at the fifty percent mark, the case was suddenly sort of over? And from there on, we follow another crime that Marlowe is seemingly uninterested in and that LITERALLY NO ONE has asked him to investigate…
