Flat Plan was an unexpected five stars for me for sure! I had no idea I would love this book so much. I picked it up a few months ago after seeing it all over Bookstagram (and of course because the cover is so cute and perfect for Summer) without paying much attention to reviews and synopses. I was not expecting to read such a beautiful story about grief and moving on after tragedy.

After the tragic loss of her boyfriend, Anna sets sails to take a trip they planned on taking together. She quickly realizes she can not sail this trip alone. Enter: KEANE *heart eyes*.

Anna hired Keane, an experienced sailor, to help her complete the trip. Like Anna, Keane is dealing with loss in a different way, bringing the two to unexpectedly form a deep connection. They spend the duration of the trip sharing new experiences and meeting new people all while trying to understand

What I loved most about this book was how the author was able to convey the emotion and complexity behind these characters as they were dealing with their respective tragedies while also celebrating love and new adventures.

This book made me want to set sail on a tropical vacation of my own as with each new place Anna and Keane visited was brought to life thanks to the excellent writing of Trish Doller.

I don’t even know where to begin with this one… Bookstagram said it would break me, they said it would leave me in tears, that it would absolutely shatter my heart. It did.

“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”

Lily Bloom grew up in a toxic household in Maine. Using her love for Ellen Degeneres as an outlet. She meets Atlas, a homeless boy who is staying in an abandoned house behind her backyard and they quickly form a connection, that is until he leaves to join the military. When Lily goes graduated from college she starts over in a new city, Boston, where everything is better. There she meets Ryle, a neurosurgeon and they fall madly in love. Suddenly her life is way too good to be true. Or is it?

This book was so hard to review and I am hesitant to discuss too much of it because I think readers should go into this book with minimal information about it. This book was totally worth the hype and I can’t recommend it enough. It really gave me perspective on Lily’s situation and what women in her shoes go through. This book was honest, inspiring, and educational and it really made me think deeper about toxic relationships. I don’t want to say more. If you haven’t read this book, stop what you’re doing right now and pick it up. DM me if you want to discuss this, I know I’ll be reflecting on this one for a long time.
