don’t really know what all i want to say other than this book was so fucking long for no reason… i read it twice and the first time was just me skimming and it still took me three hours to do that 😵💫 i genuinely think the biggest issue is that the authors don’t know what to do with the story now that twins and the heirs aren’t at the academy anymore
idc if the side povs were important to the plot we 1) didn’t need to see all the plot lines that were leading up.. part of a war storyline is that the characters don’t know what’s coming so we really don’t need to know either and 2) giving the random side characters no one remembers povs left darcy and lance with barely any
speaking of darcy and lance, this book should’ve been half darcy povs and half tory povs with lance getting more than 9?(&:&&:&: i enjoyed the bluelance scenes we did get though this gets an extra star for those alone
i also didn’t see the need for the tory and darcy argument considering this is the second to last book but maybe that’s just me (especially because there’s so many arguments over it already when both sides made good points). glad the twins were finally crowned and the heirs kneeled after EIGHT books. god bless
as for tory, i enjoyed her orpheus era and her arc in general. glad darius is back but nervous for how they’re going to wrap up the price plus the new villain in the last book? i won’t be surprised if this gets extend again
sethcaleb is getting their own section bc those are my people but i’m so mad with their plot in this book. like i loved the friends with benefits thing they had going on but i’m so sick of their miscommunication. they should’ve had the fwb plot in book 7 and this book work their shit out.. also it’s just getting old how every time they’re actually about to get somewhere, someone walks in, because that’s happened more times than i can count on one hand. i hope this will all lead to an angry confession at least. an extra star bc i enjoyed their angst
caleb also gets his own section because that is my prince and his scenes in this book were one of the few redeeming qualities for me (other than him being stupid about seth obviously). his and tory’s friendship was so cute and they reminded me of seth and darcy. his reaction to darius had me the most upset out of anything in this book tbh. he had a lot of great moments in this book and i hope that continues in book 9 at least 🙏🏻
