The Fallen by Melissa Barker-Simpson
5.0
The Fallen was such a fun, fast ride that I ended up reading it in just one sitting. We're dropped right into the action of this exciting world and its interesting lore alongside a ragtag group of likable characters, and the pace is relentless from there.
The sense of camaraderie and easy humour throughout (a staple of Barker-Simpson's writing that I really enjoy) was great and I was left looking forward to more.

The Freedom of April by Abigail Pearson

The little poems in this short collection feel like journal entries or transcriptions of daydreams; brief thoughts and ideas that drift in and out of the writer's head. This makes them feel personal yet relatable.
The language itself is simple but charming, meaning that whether a lover of poetry or new to the form, you should find something here that speaks to you.
