Kurkov did it again. An absolutely brilliant and perfectly crafted story. Not only does the reader get to spend time alongside Sergeyich and his bees, but also learns about a crucial socio-political context in the background of the invasion of Ukraine.

A truly excellent read. Would highly recommend. Kurkov’s irony as a descriptive and critical writing stance is a gem to modern literature.

One of the best horror books I have ever read. Absolutely chilling. Wells mastered the art of storytelling and his imagination combined both elements of horror and fantasy, within the terrifying setting of an unknown and wild island.
Less known than Wells’ other works of fiction, it is a must read for any horror enthusiast; the narration is cold and beyond scary, encompassing true horrors of eugenics and vivisection.

Une histoire courte, mais intense. La prose de Françoise Sagan est sublime dans sa simplicité et son honnêteté. Petit bijou caché de la literature française moderne.
