Heartbreaking, devastating, beautifully written story. I was not familiar with the event in which the book took place. This should be a classic.

My first ‘real’ classic book that didn’t bore me to death. Captivating storytelling, a masterpiece.

Quick read, cheap twist, silly plot holes. Enjoyable read if you don’t think about it. Pretty unlikeable characters.

Khaled Hosseini will always be one of my favourite authors. This book pales in comparison with his masterpieces The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. It’s frustrating but failed to deliver the heart wrenching effect the other two books did. It’s still an enjoyable read as Hosseini is brilliant with words and there was never a boring moment, it just fell a bit flat.

Couldn’t get past page 10. The plot doesn’t make sense and is cringeworthy as hell. Nothing new.

Nothing like I’ve read before. Brilliant storytelling. I suggest listening to this book, it’s one of those books that are better as audiobooks!

All the gratuitous sex scenes are pure shite as always, however I give an extra star for beautiful writing. Weird, unlikeable pushover main character. Terrible storyline.

I really enjoyed this book, good storyline, hit all the feels, a quick read for me. First read from Celeste Ng and I enjoyed her storytelling. Looking forward to more from her!

I found this hard to get into in the beginning but once I read a few more chapters I couldn’t stop. Masterful storytelling, I was left heartbroken at the end. Off to my next Anthony Doerr book soon!
