This book really touched me in a way I wasn't expecting, as someone who has dealt with extensive mental health struggles internally. I could not put it down honestly, it truly was a page-turner because I found myself so enraptured in the characters and their existence within each other's lives. But, that being said, the ending did kind of ruin it for me, it felt almost like a cop-out to not take the time to research a mental illness and create a fabricated one... I don't know it just kind of broke this air that the book had about it. Not to mention Patrick and Martha getting engaged before they'd kissed? It was just strange things like this that stopped me from falling head over heels with this book, but it definitely is still a really solid, beautiful read.

i really liked some of the stories, but overall it didn’t really click with me much. carver’s writing style is really great, and makes you want to keep reading however, which i think was the main thing that propelled me through this collection.
