it's not so much a philosophy book, i'd say. yes, there are good principles in there,,, they're more or less pretty prevalent in society today, but there is also a pre-industrial line of thought behind it, similar to a S-P-A work. it actually quite reminded me of a guidebook i read to plato's the republic, so very like the S-P-A works, i guess. if you read it less like philosophy/self-help and more like an intro to chinese philsophy the same way you might read an intro to socrates, plato and aristotle, it'll be far more insightful. the pre-industrial philsophers could not have possibly CONCIEVED of the world we live in, their philosophy is insightful i'm sure, but it's not going to be 100% copy and paste...

Wilson's translations is one of the best ones I've read for the Odyssey. look forward to reading her iliad
it's a really well done book from a translation technique view; that being said this requires a fair bit of prior knowledge of greek history which i did not have so a ton of the references and names flew over my head :( excited to come back to this after i finish a couple of greek histories
