Masterfully written. Tightly wound, conceptually tight. Weirdly adorable.

I wasn't enjoying the dialog or characterisation though I can't really explain why. Perhaps it was that it's kinda 2 dimensional. I'm more into character-based stuff, not plot-based stuff such as this.

It felt like the author was aiming for a mid-tier tv show feel, and they got that down.
For those wanting an easy to read book with a tv/movie feel, definitely give this a go.

Also coming on here and seeing it compared to Riley Sager helped me choose to put it down.

Loved loved the first half of this book, loved the prose. And enjoyed the realistic characters and dialogue. However, the second half dipped for me. I wasn't interested in the b movie plot with the side characters. I was after a bush survival story like Yossi Ghinsberg's Jungle.

Refreshingly well-written after my previous read. Good characterization, clear and visual writing. Showing instead of telling!

Still on the search for books with creepy houses and secret passageways and ghosts.

Very poorly written, do not recommend.
(There doesn't seem to be a listing for the original The Lost World by Michael Crichton so this will have to do.)
