A fun dumb romp, and I mean that as a compliment. Nothing to overthink. It starts and just goes.

The subtitle of the book is “a concise history of Zen,” and that’s a great summation of this book. Barbara O’Brien is a wonderful author and storyteller. She makes the deep and long history of Zen and Buddhism approachable. If you’re a student of Zen or just interested in its history, read this book. This is one book I’ll be thinking about for years and will undoubtably return to in the future.

This is one of the most interesting, remarkable, and innovative science fiction books I have read in a long time. As a reader, you're dropped into a strange world with even stranger characters but you're quickly invested in their success. If you're looking for something new and different, start here.
