A Monsoon Rising by Thea Guanzon
4.0
i looooooved the hurricane wars so much, and a monsoon rising was such an incredible follow up.
however! i will be pressing charges based on the cliffhanger…….. the gasp i let out………
the main characters might have a level of communication issues that physically hurts me deep in my soul but BOY am i sucked in, i can’t look away??? i can’t be annoyed??? i have no choice but to ship, even when they are both secretly planning to cross the other??? the chemistry! the angst! i was locked in from the start😌
i have 1 single qualm and that is the relentless mention of each others “slim arm”, “slim leg”, “lean” figures was borderline giving fatphobic?? a few mentions and i probably wouldn’t have noticed, but it was becoming eye rollable at the end and taking me out of the book.
i still really thoroughly enjoyed this book, and i can’t wait to see where the series goes from here!
thank you to harper collins, thea guanzon and netgalley for the ARC opportunity 🥰

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood
4.0
I genuinely hope this is the beginning of a long and vibrant author career for Lucy Jane Wood! What a beautiful story, and something that was so desperately appreciated and needed as someone approaching 30! This is so amazing for a debut novel, and Belle was an equally frustrating and relatable character… I think she will stay with me forever😭💕
