Maybe 2.5? I don’t know I just wasn’t feeling this book. Compared to The Wedding Date, I didn’t get the same type of excitement for this one. I was hesitant to read it, but I love Jasmine so I thought I’d try it.
I don’t know if my taste in books has changed or something but I just got bored reading this. I liked the characters, but the plot was just “meh”.

I didn't think I was going to like this book. But, I really liked this book. Natasha is such a lovely character, and makes me want to learn way more about physics and the universe. I was drawn to her character simply because she's Jamaican like me, but she's so much cooler than me, I loved her! Daniel is a really sweet character and their relationship was so beautiful to read through.
The book takes place over the day they meet, and it's so well written, you really get a sense of who these characters are within the first few chapters. What I really loved was the different points of view from major and minor characters. Whether it's the security guard, Irene (what a doll), or family members, it was really interesting to read.
There were times I got a little frustrated, which is why this is a 4-star for me.
I definitely consider this book a page-turner. I didn't take long to read, and I felt like every part was necessary. Although it's not the most amazing book I've read, it's definitely up there with some that made an impact. There are questions in there that make you step back and think, which is really nice for a YA novel.
Nicola Yoon is a phenomenal author, her style of writing is inspiring and moving. She has a magical way of describing thoughts and feelings. My heart was fully invested in this book, and I felt every emotion the characters did.

This was my first real thriller/suspense book and I quite liked it. The one thing that drew me to this in the first place was all of the buzz it was getting, and I understand the hype. It was definitely a suspenseful book, and although I thought I would finish it quicker, I did find myself wanting to know what's going to happen next.
Anna is a pretty cool character, and found her quite interesting as an intelligent but self-destructive agoraphobic. She's self-aware, but at the same time so naive.
Finn's writing is what saved this book for me, the story was good and I didn't predict the ending (until about 3/4 through), but Finn's ability to paint a picture with words make this story so vivid for me. I was feeling almost every emotion Anna felt, and getting all worked up as the story progressed.
I wouldn't read it again, but I think Finn has astounding talent for creative tense and twisted situations, but making them realistic and highly authentic.

This was a good book. It wasn’t the best piece of chick lit I’ve ever read and it certainly wasn’t the worst. I’m a Sophie Kinsella fan so when this popped up as a recommended read, I was happy to give it a try. The plot is a really fun idea, and I loved the relationship between Poppy and her friends. She thinks like every girl I’ve ever met which added a nice level of humour to the story.
Overall, this wasn’t mind-blowing but it didn’t feel like a waste of time. It was just OK. It lacked a little in the romance department, I like a bit of cheese and this book didn’t have much of it. I found myself wanting to hurry and finish the book because it just felt static, the story wasn’t going anywhere until about 300 pages in. By that point, I’m committed.
I wouldn’t reread but the writing was wonderful as always in this classic rom-com style of book.

This book was my first to have short stories, and I like Tom Hanks so I though I'd give it a chance. Overall, the stories are a little dull and I found it a struggle to finish them. Some really grabbed my attention, and I liked the appearance of a typewriter to link them together, but I wasn't that impressed. I had to push myself to finish the book and the tales aren't that memorable.
"The sky's the limit, we'll see them chumps on top."
If you're into hip-hop, rap, R&B or fire music of any kind, you'll love this book. This was a story I couldn't let go of, a book that I felt totally and completely compelled to read and it really is something to remember. Even though she's on sixteen, Bri's a force to be reckoned with and a really inspiring soul.
Angie Thomas is officially an author I'll follow for the rest of my life. Everything she writes is absolute GOLD. Bri's rhythm, flow and rhyme is on the highest level in this book, and I re-read a couple of her verses again because they were so poetic but hard-hitting. She spoke facts and wasn't afraid to do so. She had her eyes on a dream and her heart in the right place.
Naturally, I compared this to The Hate U Give and I loved that they were different stories, different characters, different families, but the books still felt linked in some way. Not just by location, but by the heart and emotion they carry. It's an outstanding book, just like T.H.U.G., with the addition of pop culture references that made my heart smile.
This is the kind of book that made me want to appreciate and celebrate my culture. And any book that does that, deserves all the stars.
Wakanda forever.

“You meet your fate in the road you take to avoid it.”
I don’t know where to start with this book. I’m an emotional mess after it, I don’t think I’ve cried so much over a novel before. It’s not even the deepest or heaviest of books, it’s just filled with so much love, wonder, and friendship; combined with every other emotional on the spectrum, I couldn’t hold back the tears.
No exaggeration: I cried on and off for about 8 hours thinking about this book after I finished it. I’m probably dehydrated.
This book touched my heart, everything about it was so eye opening and insightful. I felt like I got a realistic look into relationships, which romance novels don’t always provide. It was honest, but funny and incredibly entertaining.
I loved the idea of the book spanning over such a large amount of time, and each chapter shifts between Steph and Jamie. And the coolest part? The book comes with a playlist so you really feel like you’re part of the story.
From the first word the plot had me hooked. I don’t know if I can emotionally handle re-reading this, but it’s one that had a huge impact on me and my outlook on life.
It inspired me to love who I am, trust in my talents, chase my dreams, and never feel afraid to fall in love.

This book just wasn’t good. It really wasn’t good. And I’m disappointed in it. Big Little Lies is a favourite of mine and this one just missed the mark completely.
The story is a great idea. Nine strangers go to a luxury retreat with a creepy (and deluded) owner and over the days they spend there, more secrets come to light. It’s a really cool idea actually, but each chapter felt like it was going no where.
It felt like nothing really happened, rather being a total page-turner. The plot twists were so uneventful and I feel like this could have been elevated into a really interesting mystery.
I definitely wouldn’t read it again, I struggled to get through it in the first place. The character of Frances kept me going, but for the most part, it was pretty dull!

3.5 stars.
This was quite a sweet story, and the thing that made me love the book the most was the characters. They were interesting, realistic and entertaining. Jack and Kate’s chemistry and conversations is what made me really enjoy the overall story.
I like the idea, and it’s the first time travel YA novel I’ve read. The loop of events is fun to read but does at times get a little repetitive. The story lacks a little in twists and turns which is what you’d expect from something that includes going back in time.
The book definitely had its funny moments, and was a refreshing take on the choices we make and how our decisions affect other people. It explores the moments that make life and relationships special, and remind us how important it is to do whatever we can to look after the people we love.

I have a lot of feelings about this book. The reason it was a four-star for me were the wonderfully realistic characters who made this story a really nice read.
But first, can we talk about the cover? That was the first thing that drew me to the book and I love that I could really picture the characters of Penny and Sam.
Penny Lee is a super relatable character. She's a pressure cooker of worry and anxiety, carried go bags and is awkward in almost every conversation she has. She has dealt with a crazy amount of drama in her life to be a freshman at UT in Austin, but her she is, reaching out for her goals to be a writer while navigating friendships, family and romance.
Sam is a tortured soul who I just want to hug. From the moment he was introduced I wanted to give him a warm and loving home and a big kitchen where he can bake to his heart's delight. I loved that he was a passionate creative too.
This romance in this novel wasn't forced. I really came to admire Mary H.K. Choi as an author because so captured so many elements of young adult life perfectly. There is a variety of personality types in this book, and each one comes with it's strengths and weaknesses.
This is one of those stories that I can look back on, and remember how happy it made me. While I found some bits frustrating, I really enjoyed the digital relationship between Penny and Sam, as well as all the adorableness this story brings.
