Stirring Spurs by M.A. Wardell is part of the Rainbow Ranch series, written by different authors. This book is on Rainbow Ranch, a safe haven for animals and humans. It is tender, sweet, and cozy.
Boone (Cookie) runs the ranch kitchen and makes sure all of this family and the ranch are fed and loved, and they spend time together. Everyone respects him, and it shows how much effort they put into making sure he is happy, and everyone sits down to eat meals together. Wylie is new to the ranch to work with one of the more stubborn horses. He has a troubled past and didn't know that Rainbow Ranch might be exactly what he was looking for.
Even as a novella, Stirring Spus is full of cowboys with manners, a level of care, and affection for one another. I love the family not being afraid of physical touch and showing each other love, even as men and "cowboys." The way they care for one another is heartwarming. And the care and attention that Boone and Wylie show towards one another was unmatched!
I have loved all of M.A. Wardell's books, and this one was no exception! Overall, this book definitely felt like a warm hug, and I loved the queer-normative ranch and the representation of Western romance. I would recommend reading this one and adding it to your shelf.
Thank you, M.A. Wardell and Grey's Promotions, for the review copy!

The Next Chapter by Camille Kellogg is a queer reimaging of Notting Hill. In all transparency, I have never seen this movie, but this book captured my attention from the opening scenes, where Jude cries over a book while working in a bookstore. Camille Kellogg was able to capture all the warm feelings of a new relationship while questioning everything about life, oneself, and one's decisions.
This relationship between Jude and Katrina was so messy and filled with both love and turmoil! With complex emotions and real struggles that made them feel authentic. I loved that Jude had such amazing friends who cared for them and pushed them to see what was right in front of them. I did shout out multiple times for those of the MCs to go to therapy, lol, but overall, I really enjoyed reading this romcom and was rooting for them to get out of their own way! I would recommend giving this book a read!

Beautiful Mess by Ashley James (A. James) & narrated by Alex Kydd and CJ Bloom.
There is an equal amount of plot and spice. This book is definitely driven by these main characters getting it on, but it felt very fun and sweet. I enjoyed the relationship dynamic. Grace is strong, independent, and running her own business, and Conway is older and has a second go at raising a younger child.
I read the audiobook that has dual narration done by Alex Kydd and CJ Bloom. I will say I did not care for the male narrator in the first couple of chapters; he was a little too growly. However, once the book got started, it improved significantly, and I think overall, these two narrators did a fantastic job. I loved having dual narration for this book and thought that he made the story more interesting and dynamic for the listening experience.
Overall, my reading and listening experience was fun, and I would recommend this book if you love high spice and some emotional turmoil
What to Expect!
Small Town
Age Gap
Ex Boyfriend's Dad
Single Mom x Single Dad
Grumpy Sunshine
Daddy Kink
She Falls First/He Falls Harder
Baker
Blue Collar
Forced Proximity
