I was really wanting to read a fantasy since I have been reading a lot of books that are focused on romance. So, I came across this book on Libby and loved the description of it. Another thing that stood out to me was that in the title it was called an Epic Fantasy. Of course, I wanted to know what makes this so epic 😆.

For this story we follow Elloren on her journey through self-discovery while she is at college. Her aunt wants her to get married (wandfast) as per their custom to the point of being completely evil to her niece. She also looks exactly like her grandmother who was the last Black Witch. She struggles to find out the truth about the history of their world while dealing with speciesism and discovering her true beliefs while trying to save her new friends from the impending war.

This book is slow paced due to a ton of world building. However, this story still seemed to fly by when I was reading and before I knew it, I had finished the book!

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one in this series. I have so many questions that I can't wait to have answered. Even though this book is labeled as a YA fantasy I think this story could be one that everyone loves.
