Since there’s all 5 novella books about Ellie and Luke, the reader/listener does not have to impatiently wait after the first four cliffhangers to get their HEA. Without giving away spoilers, there’s some spice in Book 1 and 4, (a little in book 5), but zero in books 2 and 3. You have to go into this knowing it’s very angsty, very hot and cold with the main characters, and if you know nothing about football this helps you understand a little but some information is off. It’s only a single POV from the FMC Ellie, which I think made me choose 3 stars instead of 4. With all the ups and downs, back and forth, we really needed the MMC Luke’s POV.

Tobias 💗 The last minute HEA was good but wish there was more of them together.

I’m team Tobias on this one. Thank goodness it was a shorter novella and that there’s some spice because the lack of communication was too disappointing.

I get that this was supposed to be angsty but Eva left after college and for her to have not grown up emotionally and mentally to want him to ask her stay years later was frustrating. Girl you’re pregnant and everything he did ask you to do, “ask for a job in the states, closer to Montana” she said NO. So why should he have to ask her to stay? What he did ask her to do - she wouldn’t even try to ask her boss for a different assignment. Or wait maybe work with him at his family company doing the same career you’re doing at your current job…

Childhood crushes who didn’t know the other liked each other, a brother’s best friend, and now she’s working for his family’s business. Yes yes yes! Love a medium to fast pace spice for a novella!

My favorite so far! Walker truly saves Olivia even though he stalks her and manipulates the situation but this is why we love these dark romances! (Read TWs.)

“Mr. Heartbreaker” 💔 Kyleigh runs into her old crush, Rowan but he doesn’t recognize her. Rowan falls instantly even though he doesn’t think he’s good enough for a relationship so he was upset to wake up alone. Then fate stepped in, again. A fling of hookups only leads to friendship to love. He’s an old college teammate and friend of her brother’s. I really loved Rowan! Thanks @authorpiperrayne for a full cast duet audiobook with amazing narrators!

“Coach Sully” 📺🏒 Daddy Sully falls instantly in love with Kendra and you swoon over him the entire book! Thank you Sloane St. James for writing the perfect smutty, accidental pregnancy trope with a great plot! Also there’s hockey - former NHL star now coaching a pro women’s hockey team - so you know the spice is good. I loved the duet narration (just the speaking space was little slow in the dialog). BICOP and interracial couple rep!

“Coach” 🏈📋 I really enjoyed this @devneyperry sports series so far, and I love that the MMC of “Coach” is a man who realized he needed to finally go after the girl (his old college friend) who got away after 10 years. I loved how good of a single dad he is and that the heroine really loves his daughter too; the flashbacks really show the growth of characters since young college kids to adults. The audio narrators are fantastic.

“Lights Out” ✖️🩵 The banter and humor is one of the best written especially in a dark romance. @navessa.allen nailed it with this one and the narrators are perfect in the audiobook! If you have never read a dark romance but are interested to, Lights Out is a perfect one to start with. Please read the content and trigger warnings beforehand - it’s extremely important with this genre.

“The C*ck Down the Block” 🐓 I wanted something light-hearted but still spicy and the reviews said this series was a must. One the names of the books are hilarious! (There is a cock - it’s a rooster, get your mind out of the gutter but then dive back in.) The Cocky Kingsmen series by @amyawardbooks is very spicy, feel-good love stories what I call smutty “hallmark” stories. Love that the MMC was obsessed and in love with our curvy, plus size heroine forever (wish he would have told her sooner but wouldn’t be angst without the years of longing). There’s great humor in this series, and the unique upbringing of our FMC in this book really highlights that women should be allowed to be sexy, enjoy what makes them happy without being degraded or objectified.
