It took me a couple times to get into it, for a while I thought I wasn't smart enough for this book because I kept having to reread passages to wrap my head around what was happening. Once I got about halfway through though I couldn't put it down.
I really enjoyed the first 70% of this book.

I really enjoyed the conversation and unforgiving exposure and critique of British colonialism.
However the Letty betrayal i began seeing the lack of nuance in the conversation. I feel like we had an opportunity to show what an actual good example of a white ally could look like, and I was waiting for the character growth. Instead though it felt like every white person was cartoonishly evil, and every poc kind of read like a TikTok comment section. I LOVED yellow face, and thought it was an amazing insight into how white liberals ultimately end up behaving in selfish ways that harm poc people guided by their own egos.
After reading this book though it kind of just felt like the author isn't capable of removing their own grudges from their work. A lot of the characters fell flat, and I was waiting for the development that never happened. I was disappointed in the ending.
