The MC finds himself in different kinky situations to explore his magic. He's not really consenting because he doesn't know what it's going to happen to him. Also, I want from the story to be transparent that the MC is enjoying what's going on, instead here there's just an aseptic description

It's an insta-love story, but while generally this is a cons in a romance, I found the way the two MCs instantly connect and find solace in one another to be really sweet. I just wished there was less focus on the various villains that want to make their life worse.

I found the plot in the first half of the book to be really engaging, especially because the author didn't spoil it in the blurb, making some things unexpected. What I hoped was to then see the MCs develop their relationship. Instead, we see them making dumb decisions that further the plot.

Very interesting world building, but there's a lot of violence carried out by one of the MCs and I'm not really in the mood for it

The book title is definitely misleading and it was clearly a setup for the next book, but it was cute, and this quote was incredible "Squeezing my eyes shut, I thought of guaranteed basic income—and fuck, it didn't help because I am really into GBI."

I'm not an hockey expert by any means, but in this book it was immediately clear that something was off and the authors don't really know about hockey and its dynamics

This series is a favorite of mine, I read every book early as an ARC and really enjoyed each of them. But this one blew my mind. The stakes were much higher, and the plot felt really important to the story.  Various characters were scheming for their gain, and it was great to see everything come together.

Also, I love unreliable narrators, and Lucian is a great one at that: he's a vulnerable and emotional man living the life of a stoic, arrogant, and almost cruel duke, not realizing that there are people who care for him.  I enjoyed how his falling in love didn't diminish his "political" face, remaining a strong duke despite discovering his weaknesses throughout the story.

Benedict was clearly smitten with him, and it was so much fun seeing Lucian slowly (really slowly) realizing what Benedict felt for him. Compared to the previous books, I felt the dubcon was more dubious than before, so it's something to keep in mind when starting this story.

I can't wait to read the next book!

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
