Really struggled at the start but powered on through, slow beginning that does pick up pace. Ending was confusing and disappointing. Although I enjoyed the concept of the book and how it dealt with loss, grief, marital problems, and the time it was set in.

I was skeptical at first about how good this book would be but, despite having a fairly predictable plot line, I was surprised. As Ada (the protagonist) navigates heartbreak, disappointment, friendship, transition and new love, we are introduced to a wide range of characters with big personalities. These characters by far make the book worth reading. A great, quick lighthearted read.

John Mark Comer, although using information and perspectives that I have already been familiar with, presents the Christian idea of marriage in such a beautiful, challenging, and life giving way. He doesn’t simply talk about marriage but also about singleness right through to engagement, as well as discussing sex. One of my favourite parts was his discussion about sex exegeting a portion from Song of Songs, as it was done in a beautiful and relatable way. Highly recommend to any Christian who is dating and thinking of taking the next steps in their relationship, and to any Christian who struggles with the idea of marriage.
