On the whole, I thought the story and the mystery surrounding the four colours was really cool!

What I liked
• Finley was definitely my favourite character. He was cool but at the same time totally sweet and not a stupid ‘bad boy’. He was just completely normal! I really liked his chapters and the mystery around Dorian.

• The side story where Harper was supposed to collect the cards and it later turned out that it had nothing to do with the actual game.

• The chapter switches between Harper and Finley were well done and didn't lead to confusion.
• The pacing was very good! No overly drawn out scenes or long conversations that didn't add anything to the story.

What I didn't liked
• Harper was quite cool at the beginning but then in the second book she somehow got angry with Finley again and again because of things that could have been solved by simply talking. (But since one of them always walked away without saying a word ... well ...). She also labelled all the other members as unfriendly for the most part (which they were) but never saw herself being at least as bitchy.
• The reasons why Harper and Finley joined the Four Colours in the first place

were somehow only marginally resolved in the end. I thought it was kind of stupid that Dorian sacrificed himself in the end because then Finley's whole search and what he wanted didn't matter anyway. As if Dorian didn't care how much Finley wanted him to live. Harper's wish, which also took up a lot of her chapters, was resolved at the end with ‘two sentences’ at once. It was kind of weird.

• Unfortunately, as the book progressed, I realised how often sentences were repeated. Constantly: someone stifles a laugh, laughs desperately, smiles sweetly, laughs incredulously and so on. Repetition of three words like ‘No, no, no’ or ‘Come on, come on, come on’ also became a bit annoying over time. Plus, the constant mentioning that Harper

died

was unnecessary in my opinion because

her death (which lasted about two sentences before she was revived)

contributed NOTHING to the story at all. Could have been left out. A real plot-twist would have been, if

she stayed dead

!
• It's a pity that you hardly noticed anything about the Cross during the games. You pretty much saw all the other Colours in action, just not the Cross. Would have been cool!
• The ending with

the devil

was a bit of a letdown, but it was oookay.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 13%.

What I liked about the book: The main character seems

to be a hacker

- that's cool! And the blurb on the back. That's it.

What I didn't like: Everything else! I only made it to 13% and yet I already feel like some of my brain cells have died. Definitely a DNF for me and I wish I could scrape what I've read out of my brain.
All the characters were unlikeable across the board! I'm really not a prude, but everyone in this book - whether it be high school students, college students, adults, parents, teachers - is disgustingly needy af and they constantly sexualizing each other and whoever they see. None of them probably can even think straight for more than a meter because all they do and have on their minds is f*** around with everyone and everything and take dr***!
That's not romance at all!

Omg .... I really regret that blind buy during one of my bookstore's events.
Bye bye and never again Sandover.
