This book is unsettling in every way. It is a beautiful read, it is a dark read, it is an uncomfortable read. I’m taking it back to the library so simultaneously, it is out of my house and so someone else can read it.
The Spite House was a pretty good haunted house story. I got lost a few times while jumping between characters and timelines, but in all, it was a pretty good story.
While this book wasn’t as scary as some people suggested, there is an air of hopelessness that serves just as well. I found myself immersed in the story as the author paints the desolate landscape of the gang of castaway characters progressed.
I couldn’t stop reading this book was so good. It was terrifying and scary. The authors language paints the horrible story of Mary beautifully
This book brings alive the story of a small town girl moving to the big city and working food and bev at one of the most popular NYC restaurants. Even though I never worked F&B, I have known enough people from that world you know how accurate it is. The author does a great job of describing the scenes, the food, and the culture.
This book was a very slow burn romance that once it does, it heats up rapidly and stays there. It is one of those romances where it just keeps piling on the romance and story. Did the story need a treasure hunt and all of the problematic familial issues? Probably not. I’m happy I read it, I would recommend it to friends, but I probably won’t read it again.
