lovely! great translation. happy i didn’t have this marketed to me as an ”ultimate yearning love story” or whatever booktwt is doing .. because that always undersells an entire book For me. the ”yearning” or really inescapable longing for something beyond romance into just connection spoke to me quite well - i almost wish we got to explore more between raif and the narrator outside of the majority of the book being taken up by raif’s retelling of his time in germany.. that connection was very striking !! other reviews have talked about the level of class consciousness and exploration of that by the author and i am enjoying pondering this as well… either way. So much to enjoy and sink your teeth into besides a flimsy booktok idea of ~yearning~ please free yourselves! love and light
