This book was not for me.

The horror of the parasite was so gross I really struggled to read it, and I didn't find a lot of kinship with the boys who were trying to survive it. It felt message-less and moral-less, eschewing any commentary on how the boys survive, change etc to just keep the story moving.

Loved it!

Written by a high school friend and set in our hometown, but also a great coming of age story about dealing with high school sexual trauma.

Quote from the book which highlights the community people built around themselves in the Lower East Side,
Campanilismo, from the Italian word for “bell”, describes the bonds of solidarity felt among people who live within hearing distance of the same church bell.”
