Surreal, cool illustrations, fascinating for its history and mash up of Western influences across time. Sort of long and hard to get through at times.

Towards the middle of the book I was questioning why the heck it had to be so long, and by the end I think I get it. Such a beautiful, difficult, engaging story. When you spend so much time with him, necessitated by the length, it's hard not to love Jude. I really appreciated the way the author slowly let us into his past, and how they capture complex trauma by bringing us into the warped thought patterns, regressions, self hatred, and hope of Jude.

A sweet book. Some of the math stuff went way over my head but the characters were so lovable and the plot so cozy that I just really enjoyed it.

His reflections on heritage and the ways we carry the past inside us are beautiful. The history of the accordion is much more interesting than I thought, and reading this makes me want to see some live music and dance.
