I'm surprised it took me this long to read this, but it reminded me how much I enjoy reading sci-fi. I love how sci-fi is able to get you to see the real world in different ways, through a work of fiction.

It's crazy how relevant a book published 75 years ago is to the modern day. Even though AI looks very different from what this book imagined it to be, a lot of the questions posed about AI ethics still apply.

Plot-wise, I was somewhat disappointed. I did enjoy reading majority of the book. The last third or so of the book was difficult to get through though; certain reveals were really obvious earlier on, the pacing was strange, and important questions throughout the series were resolved but felt like an afterthought.

Worldbuilding-wise, it does leave me excited to read other stories in this world, because of the elements that were setup in this book.

Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I was intrigued by the premise, but I can't say that the execution added much to that initial premise. By the end, it felt like the message the author wanted to get across was being shoved down my throat.

This series as a whole feels like an in-between series.

Mistborn era 1 was wrapped up neatly in a bow. While this series did conclude the story arcs of the main characters, it opened up more questions for the Mistborn series and cosmere as a whole.

The above is a positive thing since it left me more motivated to catch up to all the cosmere books so far. But it did leave me overall not being as invested in the characters here or satisfied by the ending.
