A really interesting concept. I loved the addition of the character’s novel, foreshadowing. But really inconsistent with the disappeared items. Fruit disappears, but later they talk about jam, eat jelly, make metaphors and thoughts relating to fruit. Photos disappear, but the memory police still ask for photo IDs? however, the ending was good. It made sense, it was tragic. I feel like this book and the author have a deep understanding of the feeling of melting away, and that was really well done.

this book changed me. it is so beautiful and poetic. it makes the reader care so deeply for such abstract characters and concepts. its not a book to speed through but it definitely does make sense
