If you’re sensitive to sounds don’t do the audiobook. I personally enjoyed it but I know that there’s something that might bother people about the audio style in the Libby audiobook version.
I had no clue where this story would end. I was hooked the entire time, more so out of curiosity in the brother. I’m not sure what I took away from this story. Something dark but ultimately satisfying in a way? After listening to everything their father did, I just still couldn’t decide, it all was just sad. So many stories intertwined yet it was only from the fmc perspective. Interesting how the author did that. Some stories just exist for you to go back & think about.

So much history, that I never knew. That they don’t teach. I have so much more to say. This was relatable & had the history & data to back it up.

What an intense topic for YA, loved the author's note at the end.
I follow @blackgirlblueworld on Instagram. She executive produced this movie with Brad Pitt. At least those were the names I recognized. She made a post about her background before scuba diving & how she’s a cinema lover & genius in March. I recognized the name & that I had this book on my TBR. So I thought why not read it before I watch the movie? I love supporting her work & what she does!
First of all, the audio voice actor was phenomenal! Even when he had to switch to a lighter female tone, it wasn’t cringey to me. Don’t come for me if you hate it just go get the physical copy! Secondly, I was devastated for the boys, their family/friends, specifically their mothers. But this story, every nickel boys story, needed to be told. It was very difficult to read, but can you imagine living it???? Plus I never saw half of these stories coming. It was a flash back, flash forward & I couldn’t stop listening.

So so good if you do the audio!!! My mommy made me listen to it because she needed to finish it before her bookclub meeting. We got half way thru & then I proceeded to finish the second half without her.

#Hillzshelf April (?) read!! Our second time reading her work in bookclub & Jennifer did not disappoint! She writes creepy psychos so well. I listened to the audiobook om Spotify premium and it was such a great story to listen to!!
Disturbing topics cause like duh serial killer who also sexually assaulted/raped his victims. I truly loathed some characters. My favorite part about her writing is she can slip in romance without it being cheesy or taking away from a very serious storyline. For me it didn’t feel out of place, when it came up.
