“Ducks and geese are foolish things and must be looked after but girls can take care of themselves.”

“I profess not to know how women’s hearts are wooed and won. To me they have always been matters of riddles and admiration.”

“To see him striding along the profile of the hill on a windy day, with his clothes bagging and fluttering about him, one might have mistaken him for the genius of famine descending upon the earth, or some scarecrow eloped from a corn field.”

the descriptions & atmosphere were soooo good!

i did listen to a full cast audio drama so that definitely helped my enjoyment.

i want this story injected into my veins!!! 🖤🖤

giving the book the rating it has for the first half of the book before it got ruined.

which sucks bc i was having a lot of fun.

i was completely shocked when the thing happened (i expected it bc of the show) but compared to this book, the show is ten times better.

i just couldn’t believe what i was reading i was in utter shock, disbelief & disgust.

simon 100% deserved better 🫂
