A viscerally sexy poetic mystery about hunger and belonging. I loved it from the very first line to the last. No notes, K-Ming chang is truely a goddess of language.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 75%.
DNF'd - The fat character is solely used as a plot device and to make the main character feel good about herself. I really tried to stick it out but its just so disgusting how the main character speaks about the fat woman she is crushing on. Horribly fatphobic. Dont even get me started on the gross and incestuous sex scenes. I know shes writing about mommy issues but I draw the line at fantasies about fucking her mom.

This book brought me out of a year long reading slump (win!!)
It's so profound while remaining readable, enjoyable, and funny. I love all the joy she brings to the sad moments that I'm sure most people can relate to in one way or another. This is the book equivalent to having a wake instead of a funeral, and I loved every second of it. Highly recommend!!
