The only thing I dislike about this play is that its most famous quote, "Hell is other people", is taken too literally as a pithy aphorism by the public (and also my Eng Lit teacher. you were WRONG Mr. D)
["Hell is other people" is] only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also "Heaven is each other". Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings. And that's possible on a sustained basis only in collectivity.
-- Sartre in an interview with John Gerassi, Talking with Sartre (2009)

I wasn't convinced by this otherwise decent adaptation because of the prose. The modern voice really grated on me, especially in comparison to other Greek myth retellings like The Song of Achilles. That book successfully evokes the literary mythic style without being inaccessible. Maybe it's an unfair comparison to make.
The story is fine; Medusa's relationship with her sisters and the spin on Perseus were by far the most interesting parts for me. It seemed more like a sketched outline of a story than a finished book. I think it would make a great film or short series.
