Full Cast Narration performed by June DeBorahae, Sean Masters, JF Harding, Oscar Reyes, Joe Arden, & Maxine Mitchell

• Dark Academia • Why Choose • Fated Mates • Prophecies • Hidden Powers • Chosen One • Paranormal (Witches, Vampires) •

Picks up right where book 1 left off. It's focused very much on Ophelia discovering her truth and learning to control her powers. And the fastest way for her to learn to master them is through edging. LOL I found myself uncontrollably laughing at one point because so many of the spicy scenes in this book revolve around her harem, now including the professor Alexandros, building her up to the point of going over the edge, which in turn causes her elemental powers to flare up, but then denying her the orgasm until she learns to leash her powers.

I did love the evolution of all of the relationships but felt that this book in particular focuses very heavily on the fated mates connection between Ophelia and Alexandros. And Alexandros has been a very secretive "daddy" to his three made-sons, Axl, Xavier, and Malachi. They've been with him for centuries but he's kept so much about himself and his life before them, a secret. I was kind of disappointed with how quickly they all accept that they didn't really know some very important details about him.

The ending! Oh gods, the ending! What a cliffhanger! I was not expecting it and was quite shocked. Interested to see where Sadie takes the story in the next book.

As far as the narrators go, they all did great, I loved them all. June does a fabulous job and really stands out against all the male narrators. Sean, JF, and Oscar all really shine as well, bringing personality to each of their characters.

• Dark Academia • Why Choose • Suspense • Secret Society •

TW: SA, attempted 🍇, graphic violence/torture, mutilation

A fitting end to the trilogy.

It picks right up where book 2 ended. All the storylines were wrapped up nicely and all the secrets were revealed/explained by the end. I really enjoyed the suspense element in this one and the climax/resolution was very satisfying.

Katelyn also does a very nice job of giving all the love stories page time. Skyla does an amazing job sensing what each of her harem members needs, from both a physical and emotional intimacy perspective. She truly loves each one and makes sure she gives them what they need and they give her what she needs in return. Skyla and Vincent are particularly co-dependent/securely attached.

I also loved the other couplings that happened in this one. We get to see Asher and Liam really go all in on their individual relationship as well as their throupling with Skylar. And I loved the way Wesley gets Ronan to finally move their situationship into relationship territory. There's so much love and everyone's fucking and it's beautiful! We even get a train in this one!

The whole cast of narrators was AMAZING!! I loved all of their performances. Amy is a very strong female narrator and holds her own with all the strong performances from the guys. Emotions and tensions are high and the intimate scenes are hot and heavy and all the narrators delivered!

Highly Recommend this trilogy!

Dual narration 99% of the book is single POV narrated by Ava Erickson; epilogue narrated by Shane East

First, I need to saw what an amazing job Ava did! She was fantastic and did incredible with all the character voices. Shane at the end was a wonderful surprise!

While I liked the story, the plot, the characters, and the character development, I felt the book could have used a little more editing.

The biggest signal for me to rate this book what I did was the fact that it’s only 7 hrs of audio, but I listen at 1.75x and it still took me 3-4 days to finish. Every time I took a break, other things held my attention more and I didn’t find myself wanting to be drawn back into Chloe & Oliver’s love story.

****SPOILERS BELOW****

Primary complaint was the lack of a strong romantic relationship developing and playing out with the second MMC, Lance. Chloe’s time with him felt very rushed and not flushed out enough for me, the reader, to feel like she loved him enough to stay with him in the end. He was the easy choice because of the life they’d already built, but based on the way the story was told, it felt like Chloe settled for him.

On the flip side though, I can see how it’s also an example of choosing safe, stable, and sticking course with what one had already agreed to. But I struggle with the idea of living the rest of one’s life with the guilt of keeping such a big secret. Obviously, it happens in real life and therefore is believable, but that’s not what I read romance for!

On that note, I don’t think this book counts as Romance (I didn’t even look at the categories before listening, but I know this author to be a Romance author) because the love story that was told isn’t the one that works out in the end.

My other complaint, and where I think the additional editing needed to come in, was the unnecessary detailing of mundane tasks. There was a whole section where she was describing every step of making French toast. I’m fairly certain there were others, but this one stood out because it completely pulled me out of the story.

Duet narration performed by Andi Arndt & Sean Masters

• Rockstar • Small Town • Single Dad/Nanny • Forced Proximity • Overcoming Addiction •

Wow! This was my first book by Lauren Rowe and it won’t be my last!

It’s a unique spin on the single dad trope. Caleb, drummer for a famous rockband, knew he had a child out there, the outcome of a one night stand with a fan. But being so wrapped up in the touring life, he didn’t want to be involved except to pay child support. But he’s thrust into it when the mother of his child is killed by a drunk driver.

Aubrey had been living with and helping her bestie raise her little baby, Reyna. When she finds out her best friend has been killed, she moves home to a small town for support to raise her best friend’s baby.

This was sweet! I loved the big, tough, rough looking drummer totally melting for his daughter and doing everything he needed to be in Reyna’s life. And Aubrey showed so much strength and patience. Not only did she fall easily into the role of mother, she also helped Caleb in more ways than one. Their dynamic was so fun. And when they both finally give into the tension, it’s so good!

Reyna was a fun toddler to read about. Her speech patterns were very representative of a two year old. The only thing that was unrealistic/unbelievable in her storyline was the potty training stuff.

Andi & Sean were phenomenal!! I loved hearing them together. The audiobook was well done! The performances were perfect.

Thank you, Home Cooked Books, for the ALC!
