DNF page 663/813 (awful, i know)

988 is available 24/7 as a suicide prevention hotline. a necessity to throw that out there given this book’s context. concerning the book, yeah, no. nothing about this book was enjoyable for me. time simply doesn’t exist here, jude is a forest gump-type in a way brushed aside given his struggles, the latter half of the book repetitively blends together into a sequence of hearing jude’s tragic backstory being followed by a tragic present day happening, and the book’s synopsis detailing the relationship between four friends is very misleading. they’re all there but this is first and foremost a story about jude, from childhood until when i left off, which was around when he was 50 years old. i didn’t like the writing, either, even if it were to have a good story to back it up. sad art does not equate to good art. whoever loves this book i love that you love something but might i suggest mental health help and better media literacy. god. would not recommend unless you like redundant stories that are more upsetting than they are meaningful.
