This is the third book in the Val Costa series. I really love this series and it’s just getting better and better. There is the main storyline and then the one that is running in the background from book 1 which I’m so invested in. This one moves at a steady pace and there are twists to keep you guessing. It’s a well developed storyline with well developed characters that are really coming into their own and I’m looking forward to what’s coming next. This has it all the current case, the friendships, the relationships and then the past. Really recommend this series.

🎧 Ive held out for this one to become available for ages and was really looking forward to it but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. For the first 3/4’s of the book I was just bored and it wasn’t engaging me at all. It was so long drawn out that it could have been so much shorter. I did like the characters so I continued. I did find myself engaged for the last 1/4 of the book but it was a bit to late. I think this book had great potential to be a 5🌟 read but it fell short when it came to length, pace and engagement due to those factors.

🎧 This one fell a little short in terms of delivery. It’s told in the form of a dual timeline but the switching from one to the other wasn’t seamless and became confusing if anything. It’s a slow burn but the main plot was an interesting one. I really liked Annie as a character along with many others. It’s an engaging listen for the most part and I would be interested in reading more reads with Annie as a character.

DNF - Unfortunately I just couldn't get into this one to the point I didn't really know what was going on.

🎧 I felt this one was soooo long and a bit of a slog if I’m honest. It just didn’t grab me and I was a little bit bored at times. It moved at such a slow pace and only really got going for the last 1/4 of the listen. It felt like it jumped around a lot but maybe that’s due to me not being fully engaged. The characters are well developed and somewhat interesting. I did really like the references to the different places Paris is known for. Yet again I seem to be in the minority with this one but it just wasn’t for me.

🎧 What a unique and creative mind John Marrs has. He just creates a whole other world that might seem far fetched but with the world we currently live in not so much and it really works. This book is set in the same world as ‘The One’ and ‘The Passengers’, so you might be better to start with those first, although this doesn't contain many spoilers for them. There are a lot of characters to get to grips with which did take me some time. As much as it’s an interesting storyline I didn’t find it gripped me as much as other reads by him. I think that may be down to the amount of characters and there is A LOT going on within their backstories, present lives and relationships along with the experiment itself. I didn’t find the characters overly likeable but maybe that was the idea. But that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it as it’s a well developed storyline that certainly gets you thinking. Would definitely recommend.

This is the 4th book in the Detective Billie Ann Wilde series. It’s another gripping, fast paced read from Willow Rose. It’s a book series that will become a favourite for sure. It has a dual storyline switching from then and now which I love in a read to build the back history so it’s like watching the story unfold in your mind. Really well developed characters especially Billie Ann. You get a real feel for her both personally and professionally. This one covers a subject matter that I can’t get enough of and it really added to the story. The storyline moves at a steady pace with short, quick fire chapters that builds the suspense and keeps you hanging and then throws the surprises in when you least expect it. You need to get started on this series.

🎧 This one started off well and had my attention but as it progressed it just never really went anywhere. It lacked the fast pace that you expect from a thriller. For me it was extremely repetitive with nothing in the way of surprises. There was a lot of backstory when it came to the characters but nothing that really added to the story. It’s a well written storyline but just lacked suspense. I neither liked nor disliked the characters but felt I didn’t really get to know them. This one wasn’t for me unfortunately.

🎧 This one is told from several characters perspectives which I do like in a read. It’s an extremely slow burn with not a lot going on for 70% of the storyline and I just found I was bored. I’m not sure why I continued but the narrator did help. Can’t say I really cared for any of the characters or what they had going on. This one wasn’t for me unfortunately.

I was really looking forward to this one but I will admit it took me awhile to get into it. Think it was partly my busy brain an I found it a little drawn out and slow paced. It really didn’t grab me like some of her other reads. There was a lull in the middle where not much happened but for the last 1/4 it did catch my attention and the pace ramped up somewhat and I was interested to see how it played out. It’s a well written thriller that has a satisfying outcome with well developed characters that are both likeable and unlikeable. Not my favourite but definitely worth a read.
