Great world building, very descriptive and compelling, just wasn’t hooked on the plot. Beautifully done overall though.

Really enjoyable read. Loved the descriptions of Highland culture. Reminded me of why I love Ken Follet books. The tension between two of the main characters was very well done throughout. Not sure about some of the tangents in terms of action and conflict, but still, really loved being in Claire’s world.

Hilarious and compelling, especially the audio booked. Loved the underlying message too, and it never really felt too on the nose. Made me want to listen to their podcast, as their chemistry and storytelling ability is great.

I read this shortly after reading Tara Westover’s Educated, and it sort of reminded me of it, but fiction and involving somewhat of a murder mystery. Adored the bonds between the characters (or between the main character and her lonely environment), and it immediately hooked me into the story from the very beginning. Not an easy book to put down.

Great historical read, but the end is especially poignant and made me cry three times. A sobering reminder of how harmless hate can seem as it begins to spread systemically and what it can turn into if people don’t do what’s right.

Loved it. One of my favorites that I’ve read recently. Socially awkward Eleanor is so witty and funny without meaning to, and the layers to her story are so moving and dark. Great read, and definitely buying as a gift for others I know would enjoy.

Love this series in general, though I think the author's justification for the 20-year jump was a little unnecessary considering it jumps forward 20 years...then flashes back 20 years to continue the story...then removes the entire "reason" for jumping forward from the plot (trying not to say too much, because, spoilers), only to have that very same "reason" repeat itself and us see the character go through elements of it anyway...which was what the author said she didn't want us to have to suffer through to begin with. Either way though, I thought it was very well done and enjoyed the story anyway! :)
