I wanted to resonate with this, but by the end the MCs behaviors became completely unlikeable and I could barely sympathize with the book anymore. I wish the insights on growing up and family dynamics/relationships could have been explored outside of the MCs perspective because I think they were interesting but I was too focused on the weirdness of the MC

Oh my god...I finally finished...I chose to start this book the last month of my semester which was obv not the right choice since it took me a month to finish😭it wasn't even that boring I think I just wasn't invested enough to keep reading consistently. I would definitely be more interested if this was a movie.

Blake Crouch gets so much praise in scifi lit and honestly I don't rlly see the hype... His writing style is extremely tame and the amount of line breaks to emphasize drama gets super repetitive. His stories are interesting ig but never have me emotionally invested and by the end he just loses the plot and a million things start happening and it becomes pointless. I didn't rlly understand Barry and Helena's romance in this too, it started so quickly and suddenly they've lived all these lives together...the first half with the fms was definitely more interesting to me. I prefer more thematic scifi and he writes more popcorn scifi. Entertaining but nothing extraordinary.

Debating between 2.5 and 3 ⭐ but part of it was probably my own fault for taking years to finish this

I liked this a lot! Definitely going to check out the other books - I wish this had more content on the journalism stuff, maybe it comes up more in the next volumes??

I actually liked this a lot more than the first... The writing really stepped up it was very campy, gorey, emotional💔the ending was so tragic for no reason😭 definitely one of the top extreme horrors I've read there were no boundaries on this!!

I was really liking this as I was reading/listening to it but after finishing idk it didn't really leave me with as much as I thought it would... Definitely some great passages and trans insight, I also really liked the art history aspect :0 a great reading experience but not much after that.

I found the story really enjoyable and classic suspenseful Gillian Flynn writing but I wish it was more novella length, it was very short

Overhyped I fear... The first 50 pages I was like ok you've lost me I was so bored and it doesn't really change the rest of the book, the story just gets more interesting. One of the bleakest books I've probably ever read and NOTHING is explained there is no background whatsoever. I finished it and I was just like what was the point... 💔
