i am heartbroken. what a beautiful, well-written tale. this tragic, gut-wrenching tale of love really explores both the good and bad of man. baldwin was such a talented writer - he envokes so much emotion in such few words.

This book follows a couple, Remy and Alicia, who are obsessed with Remy’s old colleague, Jen. In the beginning, it’s a nice commentary on parasocial relationships but it quickly becomes very oddly laid out. I personally found the dialogue very weird and I had trouble really seeing the connection between all the parts in the book, which may just be my fault but the transitions don’t really make sense either. We’ll be in the apartment, then suddenly we’re at one of the characters place of employment and then right back to the apartment. It is a pretty quick read, and good if you’re looking for something interesting and quick but it could definitely have been improved in some areas. I noticed a few spelling errors within the book as well, but overall, I enjoyed it.

george orwell does an incredible job critiquing power-hungry, greedy, and money driven societies. the ending was very predictable; but that is to be expected with this type of book. i think this is a wonderful story that takes real events and makes them easier for people to grasp and swallow. 5 stars.

this was such a beautiful book. oscar wilde’s use of imagery is insane. greed and the urge to stay young and beautiful forever really has an impact on the character, dorian gray. it is such a beautiful, unique and telling tale. i felt like i was there, witnessing the events as they unfolded in real time. and oh! the ending, how splendid! this is probably one of my favourite books of all time. i do not know what wilde put in this book, but i am in love.
