2024 re-read
The only way to start the Christmas season 🎄
2023 re-read
One of my favourite Joe Hill books, and probably even one of my all-time favourite horror books.
I think I enjoy this one even more every time I re-read it. It's so packed with details (I especially love the nods to King's work), which makes it feel like home to me.
"I don't know, maybe you'd be more interested in me if I were a book."
2021 read
Damn, this book was dark, fast-paced, and filled with intricate world-building - and I absolutely devoured it!
Charles Manx really gets under my skin. His creepy demeanor places him among my favorite antagonists in literature.
In the novel, Vic aptly describes Manx as a vampire, preying on innocent children and sucking the life out of them. Hill's masterful writing skillfully conveys the sense that Manx is not just a mere human being, but a monstrous entity far beyond the bounds of ordinary human evil.
"Remember, in this version of my life he's not a dirty old kidnapper, he's a fucking vampire."
Whenever Christmas comes to mind, I immediately think about NOS4A2, and I ain't mad about that! It may become a Christmas tradition...
