Some of the short stories were okay, but some of them were really adorable that made you want to snuggle up by the fire.

To be totally honest, I tried to like this book. I really did. Whatever Cassandra Clare writes is gold. But this book is too much like Harry Potter for my liking. First off... "Enemy of Death". Who does THAT sound like? *cough* VOLDEMORT *cough*... And a "magic school" and the three main protagonists are two boys and one girl..
Yeah... I feel like Cassandra Clare is just feeding off of J.K. Rowling's ideas for this series. I may just read the second book but I really don't know.

Personally, I love a good fantasy. I like it when there's action and sacrifice and tears. So, reading this book was a bit out of my "zone." If you looked at the title/cover you'd think "This book has no potential. It'a a cheesy romance. Gross." That's what I thought. It discouraged me from reading it for THE LONGEST TIME. But then, I saw a bunch of booktubers RAVE about it. So I gave it a chance. I loved it. The characters are affable while not being too cheesy. They are the type of friend's you'd want. You really saw Anna turn from an average teen "I don't want to be sent away" *dramatic emphasis* to growing up into figuring out who she is. Anna made mistakes in this book. This book wasn't perfect, but it was pretty darn good. This may be my favorite contemporary book now. Rating (in a grading scale) A 96%
