I'm honestly toggling between 4.75 and 5 stars for this one. I really enjoyed it - a compelling mystery, perfect for fans of cold cases and true crime. I loved it.

MC was super whiny the entire time. Nothing happens until the last 25%. The steamy bits and banter between the leads were good, but couldn’t offset the weird pacing and the fact that by the end I still had no clue what time period we were supposed to be in. Overall it felt like a knockoff version Wicked Kingdom. 

I expected more from a BN Book Club pick.
